WHITE ROSE WEDDING CAKE
This bloom's standing as the most authoritative love symbol in nature comes in the Greeks, who used the flower to symbolize the goddess Venus. White roses, particularly, have come to symbolize purity, unity, and love that was true —as opposed to red roses' organization with passion—which has earned them the status of Ultimate Wedding Flower. Here, New York City cake guru Sylvia Weinstock blanketed three layers of cake in handmade, edible sugar petals to softly echo the design of a French croquembouche—and develop a temple to Cupid's favourite bloom.
A WEDDING CAKE WITH DIFFERENT STRIPES
Here, we place the idea of icing on ice, relying rather on unadorned pastel layers for graphical appeal. Coconut pound cake, tinted with gel-paste food coloring, functions as the foundation, while white fondant and passion-fruit curd rests on top (the curd can be between each layer).
SPRING WEDDING CAKE
Springerle forms are what make this cake (an orange-chiffon confection full of mascarpone) excellent. Despite the fact that the exceptional purple tint and springtime characters (bunnies, birds, and blooms) are not too shabby, either.
JAPANESE SPONGE WEDDING CAKE
These little beauties by Wendy Kromer-Schell and Caitlin Brown (known as individual sponge roulades) were inspired by Japan's popular patterned cake rolls. The filling is lemon-ginger mousse, and the designs could be customized (wedding crest or monogram, anyone?).
MINIATURE CHOCOLATE-COVERED WEDDING CAKES
Fancy: Yes. To make these miniature chocolate-covered desserts, we poured a glaze over each cake and piped on lines—and, in case of the cake in the middle, circles—of melted white chocolate. (Perch the cakes on a wire stand so extra glaze doesn't pool.) Afterward we lightly pulled a toothpick through the lines to generate the designs.
ROSE-PIPED WEDDING CAKE
This happy rose confection may appear couture, but just about anyone is really capable of recreating it. Focus on a basic fondant cake. Next, print out our template of roses that are abstract, place parchment paper over it, and outline using a piping bag of royal icing. After dry, peel the paper in the piped roses, and stick the designs to the cake using gum paste that's been mixed with hot water.
WHITE-CHOCOLATE PANELED WEDDING CAKE
Architectural though intimate, our white chocolate panel cake needs neither culinary abilities nor design abilities (besides the people you learned in preschool). Simply order a buttercream cake from a nearby bakery along with a pack of chocolate panels from chocolatier Christopher Norman. The remainder is a cakewalk: Stick panels of varying heights onto the layers, and fill the ledges with another fruit or golden raspberries.
HEART WEDDING CAKE
The heart was thought to function as origin of all human emotions. Though modern science demonstrates otherwise, the phrase "giving your heart" continues to be the best measure to express that you'd sacrifice anything for the one you adore. Jay Qualls of the Tennessee-based Maples Wedding Cakes printed our designs covered them in parchment, traced them with royal icing, then transferred them onto fondant.
TEARDROP WEDDING CAKE
Give your cake a dash of whimsy. Purchase up a fondant cake, along with a pail of fondant, from a bakery. Add roll out into a thin sheet, and food coloring to get the best colours.
OMBRE WEDDING CAKE
Wendy Kromer- Schell and Caitlin Brown concealed blood-orange and passion-fruit curds in tinted vanilla poundcake for this buttercream-dotted confection. Bake yours a bit larger than desirable so that browned edges can be trimmed off, revealing the lively ombre layout underneath.

CRUSHED-SWEET WEDDING CAKE
As enjoyable as it will be to eat to make, our dazzling marmalade-candies cake has a small muscle—and that is about it. Purchase your chosen hard candies (these are by La Vie de La Vosgienne), place them in a big resealable plastic bag, get a rolling pin, and also have a blast pounding away your prewedding jitters. Then press the glittering bits that are crushed to the sides of a buttercream cake.
WEDDING PETIT FOURS
Soaked in brown sugar, butter, and honey glaze, these geometric minis - Schell and Caitlin Brown resemble honeycombs. We topped them off with a serving of candied kumquats and whipped cream.
POTTED PLANT WEDDING CAKE
Contributing editor Jason Schreiber made this herb-adorned cake, which features micro marigolds, cilantro and fennel blossoms, bachelor's buttons, sweet alyssums, oregano, and pea shoots.
